Mt Vernon Grand Traverse

Mt Vernon Grand Traverse, an 18km hill run up Mt Vernon following the boundaries of the Wither Hills Farm park. With 950 metres of climbing and ascent to 422 metres this is a challenging run!
Age limit 14 plus.

Mt Vernon Fun Run/Walk, a shorter 11k route, with a quick climb up to Mt Vernon then follow the traverse route around down to the finish. About 650metres of climbing, open to walkers and runners.
Age limit 12 plus.

Kid’s Challenge, a 2km out and back run along the Mapp Track, plenty of smaller hills for smaller legs.
Age limit up to 12.

On the day from 9:00am Redwood Street Gateway Car Park at the top of Redwood St. CASH ONLY.
Race briefing immediately before the start of each event.
$25 entry fee for the Mt Vernon Grand Traverse 18k, open to all runners.
$20 entry for the Mt Vernon Fun Run/Walk 11k, open to runners and walkers.
$5 for the Kid’s Challenge, under 12yrs.

Course Description

THE MT VERNON GRANDE TRAVERSE starts at the Redwood gateway carpark, a few hundred metres down Redwood Street and then the course turns left along the Forest Hills Track which follows the base of the Wither Hills along until just before the Rifle Range Car Park where another left turn heads up the twisting Gentle Annie route onto the ridge, along past the twin tanks and up to the Taylor view track. The route then follows the Split Apple Track round and down before a steady climb up to intercept the Mt Vernon Track just before the trig. A right turn and a short run up and around the trig before heading down the Mt Vernon track and bearing right onto the Cobb Cottage Track. At the bottom of the ridge a sharp left joins the Mapp Track which undulates all the way back to the Redwood gateway carpark and the finish.

THE MT VERNON FUN RUN/WALK starts on the Sutherland Stream Track just after the Redwood St Gateway Car Park. The route heads up the Sutherland Stream track and takes a left turn just after the picnic area onto the Covenant track which climbs steeply before joining the Mt Vernon Track. A right turn follows the Mt Vernon Track up to the trig, then down to the Cobb Cottage track on the right and finally up and down on the Mapp Track to the finish.

THE KIDS CHALLENGE runs along the Mapp Track east from the Redwood Gateway Car Park, there are three small undulating hills and after 1km there is a turn around and back down to the finish.
